More four wheeled successes for Freestyle! We have a long history at of success on motorcycles at Freestyle but recently we have recently started supporting Mark Cross branch staff member Alex with sponsorship for his racing car.
Alex entered the Tunbridge Wells Motor Club Sprint at Goodwood Motor Circuit on 2nd
October. A bit of a change from the endurance racing series he normally competes in. Sprints are a one lap shoot out on cold tyres to see who can achieve the fastest lap time. Competitors get practice and several timed runs throughout the day with the best run counting towards the end result.
The weather played a huge part on Saturday with heavy rain and strong winds forecast in the late morning, all the competitors rushed to try and get in one dry run in knowing that they would have to make it count. Times were only going to get slower once the rain came.
As a one-off entry Alex lined up last in class and as he pulled up to the start line the rain started to come down! Wipers on and knowing that he had is work cut out to compete on an increasingly slippery surface against times that had already gone down in the dry Alex put in a lap on the limit. On return to the pit lane, we were happy and somewhat surprised to hear that even in the mixed conditions Alex had won the class with a substantial nine second advantage over his nearest rival!
Knowing the win was wrapped up the team enjoyed the rest of the day trying out some wet weather set ups on the car in preparation for the last round of the MSVR Trackday Championship at Brands Hatch on 20th November.
