Another great gathering of customers new and old topped off with a little bit of competition! The ‘Slow Bike
Race’ was the highlight of our second Bike Night of the year. The premise was simple, ride as slowly as you
can over a short 10 metre course including a chicane without putting your feet down. Simple right Apparently not!
Early times were posted at around the 12 second mark with several of our regular enduro practice day riders competing on a variety of machines. Paul Leeson took an early lead on his Husqvarna FE350 holding off a challenge from Nat Levick on his Suzuki V-Strom (which with panniers only just fitted through the start gate!) Soon those times were pushed aside though by Freestyle Training chief instructor Steve Aylard who posted a time just over 25 seconds on his freshly refurbished 250 Suzuki. Even Steve was soon to be humbled though as a visit from the Sykes Harley Davidson crew saw local adventure, trials and mountain bike rider Craig Moir post a time of over a minute on the new Harley Davidson Pan America adventure bike! A truly impressive bike ridden extremely well by Craig! Final honours however went to ex Freestyle sale manager Simon Bird who made the course look very easy on his custom Yamaha YZ450 flat track bike which doesn’t even have a rear brake! Simon looked like he very well could have stopped completely, quite comfortably, for some time! Showing what an elite level trials rider can do on even an unsuitable machine. Simon’s time of 1 min 56 seconds demoralised everyone else and promptly put off any fresh challengers!

All in all, everyone enjoyed a great evening! Even if you weren’t taking part, it was very entertaining to watch and everyone enjoyed some top food from Freestyle Café. We will be trying to think of some new challenges for or bike nights to come in the following months so get practicing your car park skills and watch this space!
