Landrake is a great track, hardpack but also a bit stony set in a valley, a good mix of an old school track layout but with newer style. Long hills, short sharp hills, step downs and sweeping off camber corners.
Practice & Qualifying (12 minutes) 5 laps learn the track and lay down a good time for gate pick over the course of the weekend. I was happy enough with my riding but wasn’t brave enough on the hills under braking and acceleration, 30th was all I could manage but still an improvement from round 1 at Fatcats Moto Park.

Race One – Saturday (15 minutes + 1) I got boxed in at the start but managed to make a few passes on the first lap, sadly the race ended up being red flagged as some riders come together on the large table. A short wait and we were re-lined up with a short race time of 12 minutes, unfortunately myself and a couple of other riders got caught up putting us near the back but I managed to get up into 27th, so all on all was pleased.
Race Two – Saturday (15 minutes + 1) The track was much rougher than previous, I had slightly better start got cornered off slightly around the long right hander, by the end of the race I managed to find some better lines and catch the next group of rides just in front which placed me 25th.
Race One – Sunday (15 minutes + 1) The weather made a dramatic change overnight bringing continuous rain! Making the track slicker than the previous day but still good too ride, a good start and feeling more comfortable on the track I had my highest placed result of the weekend finishing 22nd

Race Two – Sunday (15 minutes + 1) With the rain continuing the conditions had changed entirely from the earlier race, spinning off the gate, riders and bikes falling all over the place, I have never experienced riding anything this difficult, big ruts causing riders to get stuck on the downhills and uphill’s, I managed to push myself for two laps and realised I was completely out of my depth and pulled off saving myself and the bike for another day!
A special mention to all the medics and marshals for keeping everyone as safe as possible as I know the conditions were very challenging for most.
Next steps for me – A few practice days to gain a bit more confidence on the rougher conditions and preparation for round 3 in Ling at the end of May! Thanks again to Freestyle for all their help and support!
